Het wereldnieuws heeft zich rap verspreid dat Donald Trump en zijn vrouw Melania allebei positief zijn getest op het Covid-19 virus. Trump twittert dat hij zich naar omstandigheden goed voelt en hoopt op een snelle genezing.
In mijn vakgebied breken er, net zo snel als het nieuws zich verspreidt, allerlei astrologische berekeningen los met mogelijke uitkomsten; hij zou er mogelijk aan bezwijken, heeft immers een risicofactor in verband met zijn leeftijd en gewicht; en wat sommigen nog beter uitkomt, hij zou niet mee kunnen doen aan de verkiezingsstrijd.
De commentaren die de lezers geven op de astrologische stukken zijn echt schokkend. Het komt er op neer, dat velen blij zijn dat hij Corona heeft, min of meer hopen op zijn ondergang en dood.
Ik vraag me af, zijn we allemaal zo ontmenselijkt dat we zo denken te mogen reageren. Hebben we geen greintje medeleven, medegevoel en beleefdheid meer om een ziek persoon, wie dit ook mag zijn, of je het eens bent met zijn beleid of niet, beterschap te wensen.
Ik doe er niet aan mee. Het is niet netjes. Je weet ook nooit wat hij en zijn familie hier van meekrijgen [van de voorspellingen]. Zouden jullie zelf, als je ziek bent overal willen lezen of je beter wordt of dat je het niet haalt en waarschijnlijk je laatste adem gaat uitblazen. Oke, ze benoemen het nog net niet zo, maar tussen allerlei regels door kun je van alles opmaken. En niet een astroloog, hè, maar tientallen.
Ik vind het niet ethisch.

World news has spread rapidly that Donald Trump and his wife Melania have both been tested positively for the Covid 19 virus. Trump tweets that he feels good under the circumstances and hopes for a quick recovery.
In my field, just as fast as the news spreads, all kinds of astrological calculations break loose with possible outcomes; he could possibly succumb to it, as he has a risk factor related to his age and weight; and even better for some, he would not be able to participate in the election campaign.
The comments readers give on the astrological pieces are truly shocking. The bottom line is that many are happy that he is Corona, more or less hoping for his downfall and death.
I wonder, are we all so dehumanized that we think we can react that way. Do we not have an ounce of compassion, sympathy, and courtesy to wish a sick person, whoever they may be, whether you agree with their policies or not, get well.
I am not in it. It’s not neat. You never know what he and his family will get from this [from the predictions]. Would you yourself, if you are sick, want to read everywhere if you are getting better or if you are not making it and are probably going to take your last breath. Okay, they don’t call it that yet, but you can make up all kinds of things between all kinds of lines. And not an astrologer, eh, but dozens.
I don’t think it’s ethical.
